Time to Say Goodbye | I moved!

This is going to be a quick post, letting you know that I've moved my blog over to wordpress! I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but honestly this has been something I've wanted to do for a while now. I've already switched my book blog from blogger to wordpress and I love it.

I've enjoyed the time I've had on this blog, but I knew it was time for a change. Wordpress is easier and quicker for me to use, so that's why I've decided to switch.

This website will still be up for those of you who like to read my old posts, but I will no longer be posting here. If you still want to follow me, then check me out at

I'll see you there!

Face of the Day- Everyday Look | 5-16-14

I'm baaack!!! Did you miss me? No. Oh, okay.

Well, regardless of whether you missed me or not, I am indeed, back. I never should have been gone, right? So at this point it's the normal update - I'm sorry, I won't slack off again, I'm a horrible human being, and I stink at blogging. Okay, good? Good.

Now onto the fun stuff! Something that I've been into lately, has been indeed makeup. Not the "I-want-to-buy-every-product-in-sight" thing, but the "I'm-going-to-take-more-time-with-my-eyeshadow".

For the past couple of months, I've been in a makeup rut. I didn't know how I wanted look or what to use, it was pretty sad. But lately, I've rediscovered some products and done some new things, and I've created this everyday look that I'm in love with. So, I thought I would share it with you.

So this is the look. It's fresh, natural, and makes me feel like I'm glowing and all that mushy stuff. I've been into the springy glow look, so highlighters and blushes have been my bffs. A lot of the products I use are all natural, thanks to my favorite brand, BareMinerals. I love their makeup because it doesn't break me out. So if you have sensitive skin, check them out!

For my face, I used the bareMinerals Ready foundation. This gives a light to medium coverage and I love how natural it looks, considering it's a powder.  For that rosy glow I used some blush on my cheeks and topped it with some highlight on my cheekbones and nose, my chin and forehead for an all over glow. I finished it off with the mineral veil which is just fabulous. It pulls everything together and makes my face look so flawless.

On my brows I used my two Mary Kay products. I gave them more shape and color with the brow pencil, then used the clear brow gel to keep them in place.

Products used-
Bareminerals Ready foundation in "Fair"
Bareminerals blush in "exhilarate" (limited edition)
Bareminerals all-over-face color in "clear radiance"
Bareminerals original mineral veil
Mary Kay Eyebrow Pencil in "brunette"
Mary Kay Clear Brow Gel

"Hazelnut" is the last brown eyeshadow in the first row and "Moonstone" is the second in the first row.

Here are my eye products. I used the Neutrogena eyeshadow on my lids and into my crease. This product never creases on me and has a lovely brown cool color. Then out of my z palette, I used my two Mary Kay eyeshadows. I put "Moonstone"  under my brow and in my inner corner for a highlight. I love the way this gives a golden sheen to the look. I also put "hazelnut" in my crease for a contour. Then I did my eyeliner on my outer part of my upper and lower lash line. I put on mascara to finish the look.

Products used-
Neutrogena Crease-Proof Eyeshadow in "Lasting Taupe"
Mary Kay Mineral Eyeshadow in "Hazelnut"
Mary Kay Mineral Eyeshadow in "Moonstone"
Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner in "Coal Commander"
Bareminerals Flawless Definition Voluminzing Mascara
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara

Okay, so this is the completed look.  It's very glowy and natural, which is my favorite type of makeup. No need for smokey eyes or heavy lipstick!

I did forgot to show you my lipcolor, but I'm using the Maybelline Baby Lips tinted lip balm in "Cherry Me". Very lightly though, because this is a really bright color!

Bonus! This is my favorite spring nail polish, O.P.I.'s "Elephantastic Pink".

Hope you enjoyed this! I know I don't normally post about beauty stuff, but I really wanted to share this with you and besides, my blog is just plain random. Let me know if you liked this and would want to see more posts like this.

Have a great spring day!

Updates and Camp Nanowrimo!

Hello everyone! I'm so ashamed for how long I've been gone on this blog. The truth is, it's not really because I've been busy, but rather have been having writer's block (for this blog). I haven't known what to say or post, because I figure you are getting tired of the emotional, vague posts about my "oh-so-horrible" struggles. Even if you aren't (and I'm surprised if you aren't), it's nice to change things up once in a while.

So updates! Well as some of you may know, I moved my book blog from blogger to wordpress around the beginning of the month. It's something I've been thinking about for a while now, and then one day I just did it! And I'm so happy I did. Not that I don't like blogger, but I think my book blog needed to be on wordpress if that makes sense. You can go check it out!

Some of you may be wondering if I'm going to move this blog to wordpress as well, and the answer is no. As much as I love working with wordpress, I really don't have any reason to move this blog over there. I'm happy and pleased with the way it is now, so unless something happens where I need to move it, it's going to stay right here on blogger.

So, some really exciting news, I'm participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this next month! Yay! Huzzah! This is probably the thing I'm most excited about right now. I did a whole separate post on my other blog about it, so if you want more info, you can go check it out. I haven't for sure decided if I'm going to be doing updates on my blog or not, but I'm thinking I will be. They will (of course) be on my book blog and will most likely be up every week, just so you know how the writing is going. Let me know if you are participating as well!

"You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming." - Pablo Neruda

I have so much faith that spring is coming. It's taking it's time, but yes it's coming. Every day seems a little bit more brighter, a little warmer, and little sunnier. It's coming. It will be here.

Short Hair Series - Sporting the Pixie Cut

I have returned! With a new haircut. :) I thought I would blog a little bit about having the short hair and some tips on sporting it.

Ever since last summer, every time I would go into the hair salon for a haircut, I would ask for a shorter hairstyle. My hair became shorter and shorter over the months. Until finally, back in November I decided that I wanted to join the world of girls with short hair. So one month later, I went into the salon and chopped off all my hair. The hair length that I had, I wouldn't exactly call a "pixie cut" because it was still quite long to be called that. But I would say it's a trial run hairstyle. Long enough that it would be  easy to grow out.

I loved this in between length until this month I decided that, yes, I want to go all out and get a true pixie cut.

Before the pixie. I sport a hybrid of a bob and pixie cut.

My inspiration were these two lovely ladies, Carey Mulligan and Ginnifer Goodwin. I brought pictures of specific styles that I liked from them and asked my stylist for a look similar to this.

After lots of snipping and cutting, this is the end result!

I'm extremely happy with the turnout. I love the way it looks and feels. It's good to finally have a true pixie cut. Right after I was finished getting it cut and styled, I immediately said to my mom, "Look I'm Tinker Bell!!".

So that's the update with the hair. What do you think? And for those of you who have the pixie cut and/or are interested in getting one, here are some tips for you.

1. Wear it with pride. Many girls dream about doing what you had the guts to do. I have had several girls come up to me and say how much they love my hair and wish they could sport it like I can. Cutting off so much hair takes confidence, so if you've done it, girl that means you're comfortable with yourself!

2. It's your choice. I can't stress this enough. If you love having short hair, have short hair! I think it's so sad how society has a lot of men and women thinking that short hair on girls is unfeminine, disgraceful, or just plain weird. Wear your short hair with pride because if you love it, then you should be able to rock it like nobody's business.

3. Don't listen to the hype. Everyone who I talked to about getting my hair cut warned me about how short hair is more maintenance and stressful. And honestly, that's just not true. While I do have to style my hair after every wash, it only takes five (ten minutes tops) to style it verses the fifteen (twenty tops) minutes it took to style my long hair. So while you will most likely always require some styling (if anything, just a quick spritz of hairspray) the hype saying that you will be a slave to your hair is just not true.

4. It will grow back. This is for you girls who aren't as happy with your short do's. Which is perfectly fine, the pixie cut isn't for everyone. While I do think everyone can pull short hair off, it's not suited for everyone. So if you are upset about it, just remember it does grow back. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen. And while it's growing out you will get the chance to experience all kinds of new hair lengths, that hopefully you'll be able to find a length that suits you. It's not the end of the world. You'll have long hair again.

5. Know what you want. For those of you who are interested in getting a pixie cut, it's good to do the research. Know what kind of style you want, how you want it to look, and all the crazy details. Getting a pixie cut is such a big deal, you always want to be on the same page as your hairdresser. Don't just walk in and say "give me short hair" because honey, there are about a billion different styles of short hair. Bring pictures with you, because that's a big help too.

6. Go bold or go home. Now that I have short hair, I'm going crazy with lipstick and eyeliner. Thick brows and big earrings. Nothing looks better then accenting your chic and feminine hair by throwing on some oversized hoops or a chunky necklace. It looks ten times better than hiding behind large t-shirts and sweat pants, believe me.

Love your hair! Be proud that you can pull it off and give your short hair some love!

Spring is Here! (Updates- March 2014)

Hello everyone, I'm sorry it's been a while since I've posted. It hasn't really been because I've been busy, but because I lack writing inspritation, I suppose.

But what's been happening? Well spring is finally on it's way! Though my area is just getting over a snowstorm, it's melting and the sun is shining. I have faith that everything will be green soon.

from weheartit.com

Last week was my spring break, but sadly, because I was sick the week before and couldn't do a lot of schoolwork, last week was basically a catch up week. I spent it writing two long essays (yep, definitely don't want to do that again) and procrastinating around the house. Today, however marks the first day of my second course of Latin and the beginning of my literature course in another class. That means lots of extensive studying and reading (oh joy). But I'm actually (oddly enough) looking forward to this trimester, because it means that once I'm finished I'll be finished with high school. Ah!

As far as my mis. hobbies have been going, I'm in the middle of three non-school related books (which you can see on my goodreads account) and I'm currently knitting one sock. I'm enjoying the books; the knitting, not so much. Kind of in a slump with knitting. Oh well, eventually I'll get out of it.

I finished watching the show The IT Crowd on netflix and I highly recommend it. It's funny, quirky, and british (three of my favorite things). I'm sorry it's over, but now that it is I'm going to be watching more of How I Met Your Mother, which I'm now on season three.

What else... well I'm going to be getting another haircut tomorrow. This time I'm going more for a pixie cut, instead of just general short hair. I'm tired of the way my hair has been growing out. I like how it looks freshly cut, but after two weeks it starts looking shaggy and I don't like that. Nothing a trip to the hair salon can't fix though. I'll post some pictures tomorrow on how it goes.

Lastly, I have some small monthly goals this month so I thought I would post them here and we'll see how this goes.

1. Drink less soda. I quit drinking soda around Christmas, but once that month was over, I immediatly grabbed a coke. I want to cut down because I don't want to have to rely on soda.

2. Move Up in Belt in Taekwondo. Basically, I have a certain belt color and I want to move on to the next belt. I have testing this Saturday and I have lots to do before I can test, but I hope I can do this.

3. Finish The Diviners by Libba Bray. This might seem like a random goal, but this book is freakin' huge. I want to finish it by the month is over, so I can get to other books.

4. Add More Casual Dresses to My Closet. I love dresses. But oddly enough I don't own that many that I feel like I can wear everyday. A lot of what I have are special occasion or Sunday dresses, and I want more casual, springy dresses.

That's it for now! Let me know how you have been. :)

Care Package from Piper! - February 2014

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I've been so absent from this blog, but this past week I've been sick with some cold hybrid allergy attack. :P But I'm starting to feel better! Something that brightened my week was my care package/book swap with Piper from http://pipersbooknook.blogspot.com/. We decided to send the other person a book we loved that the other person hasn't read, along with some goodies.

Piper sent me The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider. This is a contemporary novel and I'm super, super excited to read it! Thank you so much Piper!

One of the other things that she sent me was this magnet from "The Strand" book store in NYC. As most of you know, this is the quote that I named my blog after. I totally freaked out with excitement when I opened it and I'm so happy that she thought of me!

Lastly she sent me these wonderful Russian coffee candies. They are incredible guys! After sending me one in the last package, I requested some more and she spoiled me by sending a dozen. :) I will certainly be enjoying these.

I'm so thankful to Piper and if you haven't checked her out, please visit her blog and youtube channel!

I hope you have a great weekend!

What is Serenity?

Serenity - the state of being serene

Serene- calm and peaceful

Off of weheartit.com
What is serenity to you? How do you find it? The world we live in is constantly putting more and more pressure on us to be the best we can possibly be. Run the extra mile. Live the perfect life.

While all this is good to work towards, perhaps we take some of this too seriously? Perhaps we forget to just be content with who we are and what we have.

What does serenity mean to you?

From  EugĂ©ne Atget

Serenity to me, means knowing your favorite song by heart.
Having a faithful dog that loves you.
Being able to be happy in the darkest moments.

From ontherunforreality

Drinking chamomile tea.
Spending a whole day at home, just reading.
Waking up from sleep and feeling fully rested.

Found on weheartit.com

Being able to let go of anger.
Having a quite evening at home.
Serenity to me, is learning to be content with yourself.
